2009 TELUS Cup

Hamilton Reps 2 - Rousseau Sports de Laval-Bourassa 2

LATE-GAME HEROICS GIVES LAVAL-BOURASSA TIE WITH HAMILTON

SELKIRK, Man. – Another day, another terrific finish at the 2009 TELUS Cup.

Antony Courcelles was the hero for the Rousseau Sports de Laval-Bourassa, scoring with 3.2 seconds remaining on the clock to give his team a 2-2 tie with the Hamilton Reps on Wednesday afternoon at the Selkirk Recreation Complex.

Courcelles’ goal came on the 12th power play of the game for the Rousseau Sports, and allowed them to pick up the all-important single point. Sitting at 1-1-1 through three games, Laval-Bourassa remains very much in the hunt for a Saturday semifinal berth.

Michaël Ortika also scored for the Quebec champions, who are trying to become the 12th-consecutive team from that province to win a medal at the National Midget Championship and the 21st in a row to make the semifinals – Laval, in its first appearance in 1988, was the last Quebec team to miss the final four.

Andrew Radjenovic scored both goals for the Reps (0-2-1), who almost pulled off the win despite penalty troubles. Lucas Farraway was spectacular between the pipes for the Central Region champions, turning aside 29 shots, many with his team under fire on the penalty kill.
