2010 Esso Cup

Hello hockey world,

This week sure has been flying by! I am so proud of all the Rebels - we have been playing our best hockey of the season. It is such a great experience so far; the volunteers, players, coaches and fans have been absolutely amazing every day of this tournament.

Tonight, we played our rivals from Notre Dame. Both teams played hard and I feel we had our best game against them all season. In the end, we couldn't pull out the win but with our heads held high we are going into the Quebec game confident and determined to earn a playoff berth. All the girls have worked so hard for this. We know that with all cylinders running, we will be successful in our game tomorrow.

I know for a fact that we love a loud home crowd, so come on out Regina, and bring the noise!

Go Rebels Go!

What a great week to play hockey! The atmosphere in the city and around the rink is unreal. From the sounds of it, all the teams are having a lot of fun here in Regina and at the Esso Cup. I know I really am.

All the volunteers are doing an amazing job making this a memorable tournament for everyone. It really does make me proud to be from Regina and play for this city. Our first game on Sunday was like we had expected: a lot of nervousness around the room. Overall though, I thought we played a great game of hockey. Thunder Bay has some strong players, but we matched them stride for stride. Unfortunately, we couldn't get the job done at the end of the night.

The good thing about this tournament is that it's not decided with just one game; we can go out the next night and create a new outcome, which I feel is exactly what we did. After the first game, our coaches told us to not hang our heads. They said we have proven that we deserve to be in this tournament, and we were all looking forward to our next game on Monday.

All of the girls know that Moncton has a very strong team. Right off the bat, we played our game against them, getting the puck deep and keeping our feet moving, and we got our first win of the tournament! It is amazing to play in a rink with that many fans and that much noise. So far, it has been an awesome tournament and the Rebels look to grab our next win tonight against the Edmonton Thunder.

Come on out and cheer! The rink in Regina is a great place to be!

Hello hockey world,

Well, the day has finally come! It was definitely one of those nights that when it’s hard to sleepsoundly, knowing what is about to begin the next day.

Last night was the opening night supper at the Regina Inn for all the players and coaches; it really was alot of fun. There were some team activities everyone participated in, a great supper, and a very funnymagician.

The teams all looked really excited to be here. Today a bunch of us Rebels are going to watch the firstgame of the tournament at 12 p.m., then head out to our team supper. Our first game is tonight at 8 p.m., socome on out and cheer us on! I have a feeling it is going to be a great turn out of fans with openingceremonies going on, too.

Let the games begin!

Go Rebs, Go!
