CANADA DROPS SPENGLER FINAL

Davos is again the Spengler Cup champion...and again vs. Canada Selects the outsider won the final game.

It was te re-match of the final game of last year, when Davos surprisingly won vs. the favourite Canada Selects. In this tournament Canada Sel. Was the dominating team of the Robin Round with no defeat, three victories in regular time and an overtime win vs. the final opponent Davos. 

Team Canada Finishes With a Disapointing 0-3-1 Record at the 2001 Sweden Hockey Games

Stockholm, Sweden - Team Canada lost 4-3 to Team Finland in what was Canada's final game of the 2001 Sweden Games Tournament. Team Canada spotted their opponents a two goal lead for the fourth consecutive game of the tournament and battled back to go ahead after two perods.

Exhibition game against Switzerland in Zurich, Switzerland November 7, 2001

Team Canada lost an exhibition game to the Swiss National Team on Wednesday. Many of the players in this game will be playing in the upcoming Deutschland Cup.

 

2001 ALLAN CUP CHAMPION LLOYDMINSTER BORDER KINGS POST 0-2-1 RECORD VS POLISH NATIONAL TEAM

Team Canada (Lloydminister Border Kings SK) and team Poland played the third and final game of their three game exhibition series on Sunday, October 28 in Nowy Targ, Poland.

Canada was hoping for a strong performance after the tie in Game 2 but Team Poland came out strong, scoring at the 6:00 minute mark of the first period and never looked back. The game was played on a smaller ice surface in Nowy Targ and Canada hoped to use this to its advantage but the Poles played thier strongest game of the series. Period scores were 1 - 0, 3 - 0 and the final 5 - 0. Canada was assesed 10 of 18 minor penalties and was out shot 36 - 14.

TEAM CANADA FINISHES WITH A DISAPOINTING 0-3-1 RECORD AT THE 2001 SWEDEN GAMES

Stockholm, Sweden - Team Canada lost 4-3 to Team Finland in what was Canada's final game of the 2001 Sweden Games Tournament. Team Canada spotted their opponents a two goal lead for the fourth consecutive game of the tournament and battled back to go ahead after two periods before giving way to 2 Finland goals in the third period.

Team Canada comprised of mainly Canadian players that under contract in Europe represented Canada well throughout the event but managed just a single point in 4 games in Stockholm. The tournament will wrap up tomorrow with Russia vs Czech and Finland taking on the Swedes. The Canadian players will depart for their club teams tomorrow morning.

 

EXHIBITION GAME AGAINST SWITZERLAND IN ZURICH, SUI

Team Canada lost an exhibition game to the Swiss National Team on Wednesday by a score of 4-2. Many of the players in this game will be playing in the upcoming Deutschland Cup.

 

DEUTSCHLAND CUP
IN HANNOVER, GER

Canada defeated Slovakia 6-4 Sunday to conclude the Deutschland Cup hockey tournament with a record of 1-2. Brad Purdie of Dollard, Que., scored twice for Canada, including a penalty shot with about 20 seconds left in regulation.

Switzerland finished with the best record of 3-0, including two shootout victories. Germany and Slovakia had a win and a loss and a shootout loss.
