Quotes:
“I don’t think we had a great start, and although the power play got us going to get us a lead, we looked sort of disconnected most of the game. We weren’t able to execute on some breakouts, our neutral zone play wasn’t as good as it has been recently, and we just have to find ways to finish on some of those opportunities. I said to the group afterwards, [I think] the positive side we can take out of it is we were still in a position to win that game, but ultimately we got what we deserved and we didn’t play as well as we should have.”
- Head coach Troy Ryan (Spryfield, N.S.) on his assessment of the game

“It’s never easy losing to the Americans, but we get to look ahead to playing them in two days. Obviously, it was not the start we wanted, we were a little bit slow and disconnected at times. We have to figure that out in the next couple of days and keep moving forward.”
- Poulin on the team’s performance

“I think it’s just getting to know each other even more on the ice. We liked parts of our game and there’s a lot of good things we can take from it. They capitalized on some chances at the end, but all in all, I do think that we have more to give, but at the same time it was an overtime game, and it can go either way. There are things, good and bad, we can take from tonight’s game, and we get to bounce back on Tuesday; that’s the best part for us. We know that there’s more to give, it’s coming on Tuesday and it’s not like we have to wait too long.”
- Ambrose on Canada’s progression through three games against the Americans
