EDMONTON, Alta. – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Hockey Alberta Foundation, is once again encouraging fans in Alberta to win bigger than ever, as the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship online 50/50 draw on Dec. 31 will start at over $500,000.

“As fans across the country continue to enjoy the annual holiday tradition of the World Juniors from the comfort of their homes, we are excited that the 50/50 draw on New Year’s Eve is guaranteed to be the largest jackpot to date for fans in Alberta,” said Riley Wiwchar, executive director of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. “The World Juniors 50/50 draw has been a success since the first draw on Dec. 22, but we know fans will be thrilled about the possibility of heading into the new year as the lucky winner of the largest World Juniors 50/50 jackpot to date.”

Fans in Alberta can purchase 50/50 tickets from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. MT on Dec. 31, as well as every game day at the 2021 World Juniors, for as low as $5 by visiting HockeyCanada.ca/5050.

The winners of each 50/50 draw will take home half of the jackpot, while the other half will be reinvested into grassroots hockey programs to help improve the quality of life of Albertans through hockey. Fans have embraced the tradition of the 50/50 draw while enjoying the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship at home, with seven draws to date amassing a total jackpot of nearly $2.4 million.
