CALGARY, Alta. – Canada’s National Sledge Team will kick off the 2013-14 season with a selection camp from Aug. 21-23 at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto, Ont.

Thirty players have been invited and will take part in the camp in Toronto, which will determine the roster that will participate in a training camp in Halifax, N.S., from Oct. 20-27, when the roster will be pared down further.

The players will be on the ice a total of six times in three days in Toronto, with three practices and three Red-White games. The games are open to the public and free to watch.

Following the selection camp, Canada’s National Sledge Team will travel to Sochi, Russia for the Four Nations Tournament from Aug. 27 to Sept. 1, with games against the Czech Republic, Norway and Russia. The tournament will serve as a test event leading up to the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games, with all games being played at the Paralympic venue, Shayba Arena.

Canada’s roster for the 4 Nations Tournament will be the 2012-13 team that won the gold medal at the 2013 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship, with the addition of forward Ben Delaney (Ottawa, Ont.)

Canada’s National Sledge Team, led by head coach Mike Mondin (Trail, B.C) and assistant coach Curtis Hunt (Regina Sask.), will host the 2013 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, Dec. 1-8 in Toronto, and play the United States in a three-game series in Charlotte, N.C., in January in preparation for the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.
