Canada's National Women's Team Assembles for 2008 4 Nations Cup

CALGARY, AB – Canada’s National Women’s Team will gather in Pierrefonds, QC for a three-day camp from October 30 through November 1, prior to taking part in the 2008 4 Nations Cup in Lake Placid, NY.

Head coach Melody Davidson will have a roster of 22 players who will compete at the 2008 4 Nations Cup, from November 4-9, 2008. Davidson also announced on Tuesday that forward Jennifer Botterill (Winnipeg, MB/Mississauga, CWHL) has been added to Canada’s roster. A total of thirteen players from Canada’s silver medal-winning entry at the 2008 IIHF World Women’s Championship are on the 4 Nations Cup roster. Canada will attempt to win the 4 Nations Cup for the fifth-straight year.

Practices in Pierrefonds are all open to the public free of charge. Canada will also face the Châteauguay Patriotes Midget AAA boys team on Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. (EST) at the Concordia University arena on the Loyola campus. Tickets for this game can be purchased at the door.

Canada, which won its fourth consecutive gold medal at the 4 Nations Cup in 2007 in Leksand, Sweden, will open the 2008 event on November 4 against Finland (1 p.m. EST). Canada will face the United States on November 6 and will wrap up the round-robin on November 7 versus Sweden.
