CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Hockey League, announced on Sunday, December 10th, 2006, that goaltender Trevor Cann (Oakville, ON/Peterborough, OHL) has been added to the National Junior Team Selection Camp roster and will be joining the team late on Sunday, December 10th. Cann was added because goaltender Steve Mason (Oakville, ON/London, OHL) is suffering from concussion-like symptoms due to an incident in Saturday night’s OHL game between the London Knights and Windsor Spitfires.

Mason has not been cleared to skate at the National Junior Team Selection Camp on Sunday or Monday but will remain in Calgary and be continuously monitored by Hockey Canada’s medical staff.

There now are five goaltenders (Mason, Cann, Jonathan Bernier, Carey Price and Leland Irving), 12 defencemen and 22 forwards – for a total of 39 players – at the camp in Calgary. Cann was a member of Canada’s National Summer Under-18 Team which captured the Junior World Cup in August 2006.

Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp, which features Canada’s best players under the age of 20, runs December 10th-15th in Calgary at the Father David Bauer Olympic Arena.

Hockey Canada will announce the National Junior Team roster of 22 players on Friday, December 15th, 2006. The team will compete at the 2007 World Junior Championship from December 26th, 2006 to January 5th, 2007 in Leksand and Mora, Sweden.
