The concert stage on the world-famous Rideau Canal will be rocking on New Year's Eve with the sights and sounds of the Samsung New Year's Eve Celebration in Association with the National Capital Commission (NCC) and everyone is invited to join in on the fun and excitement. Come watch Team Canada take on Team USA in the final game of the preliminary round for both teams on four giant TV screens and stay to ring in the new year with the sounds of Ottawa's own Amanda Rheaume and the Juno award-winning Finger Eleven.

"This is a fabulous opportunity for all to get out and welcome the New Year as only Canadians can: with hockey and a free live outdoor concert on the world famous Rideau Canal Skateway." says Marie Lemay, NCC chief executive officer.

The Samsung New Year's Eve Celebration kicks off at 7 p.m. with Canada's National Junior Team taking on its heated rival from the United States in a battle for first place in their tournament pool. We expect 5,000-7,000 screaming hockey fans to come out and cheer on Team Canada and challenge everyone to see if their vocal support can be heard all the way out at Scotiabank Place.

After the game, the Amanda Rheaume Band, winners of Ottawa's "Big Money Shot" talent showdown, will be taking the stage followed by Toronto's own, Finger Eleven, at about 11 p.m.  Both acts are sure to rev-up the energy level of the crowd with their high tempo music and stage show.

When the clock hits midnight, a pyrotechnics show will ring in the new year, followed by a second set from Finger Eleven until approximately 12:30 p.m.

The concert stage is situated on the Rideau Canal Skateway underneath the MacKenzie King Bridge and admission is free.

Make the Samsung New Year's Eve Celebration a key part of your New Year's Eve plans and show the visitors to the Nation's Capital this holiday season that Ottawa knows how to throw a rocking winter party.
